Polar Bear Plunge
Brrrrrrrr, this picture makes me cold just looking at it! Each year, on January 1st, at exactly 12 noon, crazy people gather at Lytle Beach to take the plunge. The folks aren't actually insane, they are really very normal, wonderful people: moms, dads and kids, artists and attorneys, hi-tech developers and baristas. They are people like you and me. Sort of.
They are also people who think it's a good idea to start the year off by stripping down to a bathing suit in 40-degree weather (on a balmy day!) and jumping into the brisk, 46-degree Puget Sound. Granted, the water is warmer than the air, and I've heard it's not that bad, but I am a chicken and I certainly have no plans to find out for myself. I am very happy in my role as Family Photographer. Hey, someone has to get this stuff down for posterity's sake - because, honestly, who would believe it otherwise?
So, what do you think? Are you brave enough to "take the plunge"? I'd love to hear your thoughts... And, hey, if you've already done it, let us know how it was! Happy New Year! 2017 is going to be fabulous.
XOXO
