Shopping at the Seaside

It takes a sharp eye, extraordinary style, and some faith to believe that an old service station can be repurposed as an incredibly stylish boutique. For years, the station sat vacant, forgotten, and forlorn – badly in need of someone to rescue it and bring it back to life. Directly across from the ferry tollbooths, it was one of the first places island visitors saw as they came off the ferry and one of their last impressions as they headed back to Seattle.

After receiving a much-needed facelift, Seaside Station now glows from its recent retrofit and is bursting with goodies collected by the supremely stylish Shannon Duke.  Formerly of Austin, Shannon brings her unerring eye for quality and beauty, along with her sweet Texas twang, imbuing this space with a treasure trove of clothing for men and women, accessories and unusual gifts, and jewelry designed by local artists. Cozy scarves, shawls, and blankets, inspiring books, and an eclectic assortment of must-haves from soaps and perfumes to camping patches and wooden puzzles.

Shannon also sells the best Bainbridge Island apparel available on the island which she has, of course, designed herself. You might not need anything, but I challenge you to walk out of here without buying something fabulous!

Seaside Station is one of the best boutiques I’ve visited anywhere – from New York to Los Angeles, Mill Valley to Montauk – and I feel so fortunate to have this special place in my town. You’ll walk right past Seaside Station the next time you come over to Bainbridge Island on foot and if you’re in a car, there’s parking right out front. Take a few minutes to stop in – I promise you won’t be disappointed.
